At over 800,00 acres, the WMNF is the largest area of publicly owned land in New England. This presentation will address the mission of the Forest Service and the drivers behind forest management on the Forest. With a focus on conservation, timber harvesting is used to create diversity of habitats and a sustainable yield of high-quality forest products. We will delve into the why and how of these practices on the WMNF.
Speaker Bios:
Roger Boyer serves as a Timber Contracting Officer and Program Manager for the White Mountain National Forest. His work supports the planning, preparation, and implementation of timber sale administration programs for the Forest. His work includes the protection, conservation, and utilization of timber resources.
Jason Lyle serves as the Forest Silviculturist for the White Mountain National Forest. His work supports vegetation management by providing technical guidance on silviculture, forest health, and the planning through monitoring of projects on the Forest.
