JENNIFER BROUSSEAU
PROGRAM MANAGER
Jenn Brousseau is an interdisciplinary environmental social scientist interested in understanding what elements influence environmental planning and how these processes influence outcomes. Jenn is an Assistant Professor at the University of New England where she has a research program focused on understanding how individuals and communities are addressing coastal resilience, the role of regional climate planning in advancing climate action, the dynamics of decision-making related to wildfire mitigation and planning, and how the arts can help us envision more sustainable climate futures. Her work aims to center students within this research and address the concerns of practitioners and community partners. She received her Ph.D. in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation from Virginia Tech and completed a postdoc at Colorado State University studying wildfire governance. In a former life, Jenn enjoyed following orangutans around rainforests in Indonesia and led environmental education programs for Indonesian and international students.
Erik Heumiller
OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Erik Heumiller is a filmmaker and conservationist working in southern Maine. He brings an endless curiosity that drives him to explore ways we might better balance human systems and the needs of the ecosystems they exist within. His work often includes creating educational content to engage viewers, producing documentaries to increase understanding of key environmental themes, and most importantly — sharing stories that inspire positive change.
Erik also volunteers on Biddeford's Conservation Commission and Shellfish Commission, helps collect DEP water quality data, holds a commercial Green Crab harvest license, and will never turn down an invite to venture out into the woods & waters of Maine.
He’s excited to dive into the work of the Saco Watershed Collaborative, and is looking forward to sharing more stories, insights, and opportunities from within the watershed.
